Abstract
Generally a relatively large-sized drop is followed by a satellite drop. When they impacts on a free surface a variety of surface dynamics occurs, involving the irregular bubble entrainment region. There are several patterns of the formation of air bubbles whose oscillations are considered to be the sources of underwater sounds. During the falling process of a water column, breakup phenomena occur due to the contact of a column surface with a curved free surface near the base of the column. In the present paper we explore the mechanism of surface breakup phenomena and the probability of sound generation due to bubble oscillation.
