Abstract
This paper proposes a new planar lens antenna based on transmission amplitude and phase obtained by resonance property of slot-coupled dual patches. Transmission response of the periodic array with a finite aperture consisting of such elements is evaluated by numerical and experimental study. Also, for realizing desired transmission phase with a low insertion loss, dimensions of the patches and the slots can be determined by parametric study based on the finite array analysis. We finally present validation of the proposed method by comparison between measured radiation patterns of a fabricated lens antenna and calculated ones.
