Abstract
Development of intelligent materials with characteristics resistant to radiation damage and beam impact has been made by applying the grain boundary engineering (GBE) and composite techniques of mechanical alloying and the spark plasma sintering (SPS) method. The former GBE controlled stainless steel was verified to be high resistant to corrosion. The latter intermetalic-free Nb and Al compound material has an intelligence to avoid a small-crack propagation.
