抄録

The seeds of Alpinia japonica(Zingiberaceae) have been used as an aromatic stomachic under the name, "Izu-shukusha" in Japan. From the fresh rhizomes of the plant, ten new sesquiterpenes, that is, Δ^<9(10)>-eremophilene-11-ol(8), hanalpinol(11), hanalpinone (9), isohanalpinone(10), alpinenone(13), alpiniol(15), hanamyol(16), alpinolide(18), 9-hydroxy alpinolide(19), alpinolide peroxide(20) were isolated together with dihydroagarofuran(1), α-agarofuran(2), 4α-hydroxydihydroagarofuran(3), 10-epi-γ-eudesmol (4), 3α,4α-oxidoagarofuran(5), 3β,4β-oxidoagarofuran(6), β-eudesmol(7), furopelargone B(21), furopelargone A(22), and pogostol(17). Alpiniol(15) had a new skeleton which will be produced in the rearrangement of guaien-1,10-epoxide and (18)-(22) were considered to be derived from (9), (10) and (11) through a cleavage of C9-C10 bond of its guaiane skeleton. These chemical transformations may suggest the biogenesis of (18)-(22).
