Abstract
When the bolted joints loaded perpendicular to the grain are analyzed, a crack would occur around the hole and that crack would propagate to that end. So we need to understand the behavior of that cracks. In this paper, we studied the wood fracture of bolted joints with Japanese larch glulam loaded perpendicular to the grain. We conducted CT tests and bolted joints loading tests. At that time we checked the moment to appear the cracks on that face with four video cameras. We got critical J-integral(J_i) from CT tests and estimated J-integral value araound the hole by FEM analysis. As a result we can almost estimate the crack initiation load of that bolted joints with J_i.
