幕末・明治期の南上州における祭礼屋台の彫刻意匠について : 彫物師 弥勒寺音次郎と音八の作風を中心に(計画系)  [in Japanese] Characteristics of carvings on the festival chariots in South-Joshu region in the end of the Edo era toward the Meiji era. : Centering around the works of wood carver Mirokuji Otohachi  [in Japanese]

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the state of preservation and years of construction Yatai, and try to find craftsmen and them working sites. Furthermore, this study is demonstrated the characteristics of carvings based on the Mirokuji who are Burin of wood carver, and part of its genealogy of Yatai in South-Joshu region. Findings are as follows :Yatai are comparatively well-distributed in the stations of the old Nikko-reiheishido road and those locations. 25 number of Yatai with sophisticated carvings South-Joshu had been produced from the end of the Edo era toward the early part of the Meiji ora.Yatai were constructed by local carpenters, engravers, painters who are involved in each. The two Mirokuji's styles differ from each other. Otojiro represent with vigor with sharp but Otohachi had done elaborately and carefully. Characteristics of carvings on Yatai have the feature of the location, and the sculpture motive also changes from that.
