Abstract
In order to psycho-physiological effects of the foot bath upon a night sleep, the relationship between the body temperature regulation by a foot bath and the sleep feeling of the night sleep were studied for the 10 healthy university female students(mean:20±0.5 years). The rectal and skin temperature were recorded from the time for the foot bath (20:30) in the late evening to the following morning (07:00). Their sleep (23:00〜07:00) were recorded for the consecutive three night, and monitored by Acti-watch. Their sleep feeling was improved in the night with the foot bath. Particularly, the sleep feelings in relation to easily going to sleep and satisfaction of sleep were significantly improved in the night sleep with a foot bath. This result suggests that the foot bath before the night is contributed to the thermo-regulation on the sleep onset process and improves the sleep feeling.
