Abstract
In this paper, an evaluation method of calculation performance for acoustic field simulation using a graphic processing unit (GPU) is theoretically proposed. Two numerical methods are implemented on the GPU; one is the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method and the other is the digital Huygens'model (DHM) method. The evaluation method of calculation performance is proposed based on the performance of floating point number operation and the memory bandwidth. The calculation performance is evaluated for two-dimensional acoustic field. A FDTD algorithm particularly effective for GPU is also proposed, in which the shading program is described as one shader in order to reduce data transmission. The evaluation method is compared with experimental results for two-dimensional acoustic field model.
