EOGを用いた意思伝達支援装置における提示配列の検討  [in Japanese] Examination of Keyboard Arrangement in Communication Support Device using EOG  [in Japanese]

Abstract

重度肢体不自由者は残存機能が限られているために意思疎通が難しく,コミュニケーション支援が必要である.そこで,眼球運動時に発現する眼電図(EOG)と,瞬目時に発現する筋電図(EMG)をリアルタイムで意図情報に変換し,ステップスキャン方式によりスクリーンキーボードのカーソル移動と文字選択を任意に行うシステムを構築した.本研究では操作者に提示するスクリーンキーボード配列が操作に与える影響について調べ,インタフェース面からの操作性向上を検討した.実験では,QWERTY配列とALPHABET配列の横型と縦型,50音仮名配列の横型と縦型の5種の配列を用いて文字入力実験を行った.実験の結果,提示する配列が操作に影響を与えることが示された.

The people with severe physical disabilities have difficulties in communication with people because of limited residual functions. We have developed a communication support system using EOG and EMG which performs cursor movements and selection voluntarily in step scan method. In the present study, we examined the influence of the screen keyboard arrangements display to the user. In our experiments, we used 5 types of keyboard arrangement for the letter input (qwerty arrangement, horizontal and vertical alphabet arrangements, horizontal and vertical kana arrangements). We discussed the possibility of operability improvement from interface side.
