Abstract
A new sampling method is studied in stead of "'Touch Down" method in the next Sample Return project. "Harpoon & Penetrator" method is one of the new sampling methods. This method is to penetrate a sampling probe into the target using its kinetic energy. If properly designed, samples will be packed. In this strategy, the spacecraft does not need landing. However by using tether, its plucking will becomes a challenging issue. The solution of this issue is studied by using numerical analysis and microgravity experiment. Preparing of a microgravity experiment is described in this paper.
