Abstract
The present report presents a study on some basic characteristics of the Rankine cycle, including the effect of solar radiation on power generation, heat quantity obtained from the cycle vis a vis environmental aspect. The experimental set-up is mainly comprised of evacuated solar collector, pressure relief valve, CO_2-water heat exchangers, CO_2 feed pump, and cooling tower. The test result reported in the present report is one that represents an average solar radiation and air temperature during one year. The results show that power generation, heat recovery and saved petroleum quantity are all directly proportional to the solar radiation and are increased with the value of solar radiation, also show the relevant heat transfer performance for its efficiency.
