Fatigue limit diagram provides with safety conditions against fatigue under constant amplitude loading. However, it was shown that fatigue failure occurred in some special case of variable amplitude loading condition even when all stress amplitudes were kept within the fatigue limit diagram. The effects of notch depth and notch radius on this phenomenon were examined using small-notched specimen.
