Liquefaction effect is known to increase a damage of lifeline so that there is a need to detect liquefaction quickly. Tokyo-Gas started installation of "New SI-sensor" which records waveform data on Jan. 1998 to 3600 gas regulators. If we will be able to detect liquefaction using only waveform data at 3600 points soon after large earthquake, accurate liquefaction area and pipeline damage could be estimated quickly. We analyzed about 70 waveforms including 9 liquefaction waveforms, and found 4 criterions described, as follows are necessary to detect liquefaction. (i)Amax>100 gal, (ii)SI>20 kine, (iii)D>10 cm, (iv)T>2.0 sec. Here, Amax is Peak Ground Acceleration; D is peak ground displacement; T is natural period of ground motion. Almost 100% observed liquefaction data is separated from non-liquefaction data using above criterion. We are going to apply this algorithm to "New SI-sensor". This algorithm will be also applied to other seismic sensors easily.
