This report focuses upon inquiring how a mid-career teacher copes with one's crisis as a teaching profession in this difficult era. Teachers have suffered for so many and inconsistent educational reforms since the 1990's in Japan. Teacher stress is increasing gradually during the period of these educational reforms. Therefore now it is more difficult for teachers to promote their professional development than before. However some teachers seem to realize their professional developments as a practitioner despite of such a difficult situation. I explore the life story of one teacher who has promoted his professional development by restructuring his own teaching and try to show the possibility of teacher's professional development in this knowledge society.
