Abstract

半波長電圧、チャープパラメーター、消光比などのMZ光変調器の性能を表す各種指標の高精度測定方法について議論する。近年、アクティブトリミングにより、消光比70dB以上、チャープパラメーター0.01以下などが報告されており、従来にない超高精度光制御が達成されている。また、256QAMなどの複雑な変調方式においては、既存方式に比べて高い精度での変調の必要性が指摘されている。

We investigated precise measurement methods for half-wavelength voltage, chirp paramter, extinction ratio of Mach-Zehnder modulators. Recently, very high extinction ratio over 70dB and ultra low chirp under 0.01 were achieved by using an active trimming technique. In addtion, precice and high-speed lighwave control or modulation would be very important in advanced modulation formats, such as 256 quadrature amplitude modulation.
