Abstract
In this report, the authors deal with the improvement of two hull forms of home-waters cargo vessels (G.T. 499 tons type steel materials carriers) by model experiment. One of the improvements is to soften the stiff shoulder in aft sectional area curve caused by the arrangement and shape of the cargo hold. Comparative test showed considerable reduction of the resistance by this transformation. The other improvement is modification of the bow form to have slender bulbous bow (size 6% A_M, protruding length 3% L_<PP>) and small change of the shape in sectional area curve near the bow. The resistance remarkably decreased by this modification of the hull form near the bow.
