Abstract
This report gives the results of study on the propulsive performance and the characteristics of hull forms, derived from the speed trial analyses of the twenty home-water ships. The characteristics of the hull forms are shown to compare the particulars of hull forms, the components of sectional area curves and the UV-parameter of the frame line forms. An investigation of the propulsive performance is made about Cadm, 1-w_s and C_R' derived from the speed trial analysis results. Then, the propeller performances are shown to compare the propeller efficiency at the J=0.45 with the constant speed at the trial condition by the use of propeller open characteristic curves. It was found that good performance ships based on the results of speed trial analyses had special features of hull forms, and it was confirmed that the resistance decrease of ships and introduction of lower revolution and large diameter propeller gave better propeller efficiency.
