The female and mature larva of Simulium (Simulium) ufengense Takaoka from Taiwan are described for the first time. As in most species of the griseifrons species-group in which this species is placed, the female of this species is characterized by the antennae with distinct pits densely provided with minute sensilla on the flagellomeres, and enlarged ovipositor valves with bare and transparent inner and posterior margins, and the larva by the well-defined and pigmented subesophageal ganglion.
