Abstract
As dental implants have become an established dental treatment, the number of applications to difficult and aggressive cases has increased. To overcome these difficulties and realize safe and precise surgery, computer-assisted navigation systems have been developed. In conventional systems, surgeons feel anxious intra-operatively because they have to operate instruments in the oral cavity while watching a surgical monitor. Thus, we develop novel surgical navigation system by combining the retinal projection head mounted display (RPHMD) and the augmented reality (AR) techniques. In this paper, we propose an image overlay procedure based on the RPHMD and verify its accuracy.
