Machinery Failures and Alarm Generations in M0 Diesel Ships

Abstract

At the end of 1982, 597 ships with diesel main engines and 90 ships with main steam turbine engines, in an aggregate total number of 687 ships are affixed with "M0" notation to their characters for machinery in the Register Book of NK, whereby those ships with "M0" notation reached 12.2% of the total NK-classed ships. This paper introduces the summary of the results of statistical survey on the data of machinery failures and alarm generations collected from 272 diesel ships among those with "M0" notation.
