Dual-Fuel Diesel Engine with High-Pressure Fuel-Gas-Injection Systems

The dual fuel diesel engine with some innovations is developed by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. It features: Mixed burning of gaseous fuel and oil fuel, and exclusive oil fuel burning are feasible. High thermal efficiency and high power ratio comparable to those of the conventional diesel engine are avaiblable. Operational safety is ensured in the absence of leakage of unburnt gas fuel from combustion chamber. This paper reports these features in detail, and introduces the new dual fuel diesel engine on the basis of the test date obtained through experiments with the 4-stroke cycle test engine and 2-stroke cycle crosshead diesel engine.
