Noteworthy Requirements of 1981 Amendments to SOLAS 1974 on Fire Protection, Fire Detection and Fire Extinction for Cargo Ships, and Relevant Interpretations

Since 1981 Amendments to SOLAS 1974 (hereinafter referred to as 1981 Amendments) was entered into force on 1st September, 1984, necessary interpretations of requirements of 1981 Amendments were established. This paper is of excerpted from the paper on such interpretations which was presented at a lecture meeting (organized by NK and ZC) held at Shanghai in March 1985. The contents of the paper are some noteworthy new requirements of 1981 Amendments and relevant interpretations being necessary for the application of the requirements to ships practicably, with regard to Fire Protection, Fire Detection and Fire Extinction.
