This is the second article in the series of study of Nishi Araane's theory of human nature. In this article we deal with his "Seiseihatsuun" which is supposed to have been written in about 1871-3. Although Nishi's "Seiseihatsuun" includes his own writings in part, yet the most part of it consists of his translation from G.H. Lewes' writings such as "A Biographical History of Philosophy" and "Comte's Philosophy of the Sciences." Accordingly we find Lewes' explanation of Comte's theory of human nature in this book. In this article we discuss Comte's theory of human nature and examine to what extent Nishi made use of Comte's theory as material in comparison with Nishi's "Hyakuichishinron."
