This study describes the effectiveness of ACT for people in Japan with severe mental disorders. The subjects were 21 schizophrenic patients and eight professionals. All consented to be a part of this study. Ten patients were in the ACT group and eleven were in the comparative group. The characteristics of the two groups were almost identical. Eight professionals were nurses, social workers, and psychiatrists. This study was implemented between December 2005 and February 2007. ACT intervention was conducted according to the ACT protocols of National ACT Standards with modifications by this research team. Evaluations were implemented by BPRS, GAF, LSP and CSQ questionnaires. These questionnaires were written by the primary psychiatrist and Certified Nurse Specialist or Head nurse.
