母乳栄養と健康  [in Japanese] Breast-feeding and health for infants  [in Japanese]

Abstract

There are many people who hope to breast-feed their babies at first; however, by one month after birth, the percentage of mothers who breast-feed their babies hovers at just about half of those who started breast-feeding. Because breast milk provides the best nourishment for infants, it is desirable to increase the rate of breast-feeding. In order to promote lactation, nursing should be initiated as soon as possible after delivery, and the infant should be allowed to breast-feed whenever it desires. Nursing a child on breast milk is something that can be learned, provided the proper information and guidance is available.
