抄録

She was sighted in calm seas, less than 150 yards from starboard. The sailor could scarcely believe his eyes as he watched her slide gracefully through the water, her golden hair shining in the warm sun. He beckoned his shipmates to witness the tantalizing sight. Suddenly aware of the rapt attention of a dozen men, the mermaid flipped her glistening fishlike tail in the air and disappeared beneath the surface of the water. Deceived, the men returned mournfully to their monotonous tasks.
