Precis hedonia LINNE from Northwestern Borneo, with the description of a new subspecies

The author published "A list of Bornean butterflies, chiefly taken in Sarawak" (TYO TO GA, 19(3-4),1968), in which he recorded Precis hedonia from Northwestern Borneo as belonging to the subspecies ida CRAMER, But, afterwards, he studied more materials of the species collected from the various areas of Southeast Asia including Singapore, Java, Luzon, Mindanao, Palawan and Palau, and consequently, he has regarded the Precis hedonia from Northwestern Borneo as a distinct new subspecies which differs from ida in the following respects. In writing this paper, the author wishes to express his sincere thanks to Mr. Kazuhiko Morishita, Mr. Yutaka Arita, Mr. Yoshiaki Nishikawa, Mr. Yasuzo Honda and Mr. Syoichi Iwanaga who lent him their valuable specimens.
