Kraft pulping is the developed technology to remove lignin from wood. So we investigated the bioethanol production process employing kraft pulping as pretreatment. In order to estimate the ethanol yield from kraft pulp, a series of enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation experiments using kraft pulp were carried out. Through this work, Kraft pulp products showed sufficient digestibility for ethanol production even at high substrate concentration (200g/L). The energy recovery rate in bioethanol production from oxygen delignified kraft pulp (OKP) was about 37% at substrate concentration 200g/L with unhydrolyzed substrate reused.
