抄録

Experimental investigations have been carried out to clarify influence of free-stream pressure fluctuation on laminar-to-turbulent transition in compressive boundary layer on a sharp cone, aimed to improve the accuracy of transition prediction. Transition location along the top line of an identical sharp cone with non-zero angle of attack and free-stream pressure fluctuation are measured in two supersonic wind tunnels by use of identical measurement system. An empirical relationship between spatial growth rate of disturbance and free-stream pressure fluctuation is proposed.
