Abstract
In the equations for the hybrid-filtered velocity, additional terms appear due to the noncommutivity between the filtering and the spatial derivative. DNS data of turbulent channel flow was used to examine the importance of the additional terms. It was shown that the additional term for the diffusion in the resolved energy equation has a positive value in the RANS/LES interface region. The positive value represents the transfer from the modeled energy to the resolved energy. It is suggested that the effect of the additional terms should be incorporated in the simulation with the hybrid turbulence model.
