ICT（Information and Communications Technology：情報通信技術） や経営学などは，主として欧米で発達してきた分野である．そのため，我が国においては日本語になっている用語もあるが，近年特に，カタカナ語・英略語が多い．本稿では，カタカナ語・英略語を学習するとき，(1) 序数 （数を表す接頭語） を理解し覚えると，応用が効く，(2) フルスペル （full spelling） により理解が深まる，(3) 語源に注意を向けると，もっと理解が深まる，(4) 想像力 （imagination） を持つことにより更に理解が深まる点について論ずる．Information and Communications Technology (ICT), business administration, etc. are fields which have mainly progressed in Europe and the U.S.. Therefore, although there are also terms which are Japanese, there are many Katakana-words and English abbreviations especially in recent years. This paper discusses the followings, when learning Katakana-words and English abbreviations. (1) Applications will be effective if ordinal numbers are understood and memorized. (2) Understandings deepen by full spellings. (3) If cautions are turned to the origin of a word, understandings will deepen more. (4) Understandings deepen further by having imaginative power (imagination).
