Contents of sennosideA (SA), sennosideB (SB), rhein, aloe-emodin, chrysophanol and emodin in each part of Cassia angustifolia (Senna) were determined. Sennas used for the determination of the 6 components were grown on the 2 different medicinal plant gardens. SA, SB and rhein were contained in all parts of Senna. Contents of SA, SB and rhein in leaf stem (below 3mm), rachis and flower stalk of Senna increased from Oday till 14days. They tended to decrease from 14days till 84days. Six components in each part of Senna after air drying for 6 months were determined. Total sennosides (SA and SB) of leaves were 25.89±0.69 mg/g and 24.81±1.17 mg/g. Total sennosides were contained most abundantly in the flower bud. Contents of SA, SB and rhein in epidermis of stem (below 5mm) and in flower stalk were similar to those in rachis. Aloe-emodin was detected from leaf, rachis and flower bud. Chrysophanol was contained only in the root. Emodin was not detected in any part of Senna. These results suggested that the component characteristics of Senna growing on 2 places were similar.
