Abstract

Contents of 19 components in 34 Rhubarb samples were determind by HPLC analysis, and their 5-LOX inhibitory activities were tested. It was revealed that 5-LOX inhibition activities can be estimated by the contents of 8 components (physcion, emodin-1-O-β-D-glucoside, sennoside A, catechin, (-)-epicatechin 3-O-gallate, procyanidin B-2 3,3'-di-O-gallate, lindleyin and 3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene-4'-(6"-O-galloyl)-glucose) in Rhubarb using a muliple regression analysis. The results obtained here were further supported by phorbol ester induced ear swelling tests in mice.
