Abstract

A new neolignan glycoside, 1-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-2-[2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3-methoxy-5-((1E)-3-hydroxypropenyl) phenyl] propanone has been isolated from the root of Echinops grijissii and its structure was deduced on the basis of extensive NMR and MS experiments. It was named echinolignan A.
