Determination of trans-ferulic acid in Shimotsu-To, a traditional Chinese medicine, by high-performance liquid chromatography :

A simple and precise method was established for the determination of trans-ferulic acid in the traditional Chinese medicine, "Shimotsu-To", using high-performance liquid chromatography. The analyses were performed with an ODS column by linear gradient elution using a mobile phase containing a 0.05% trifluoroacetic acid aqueous solution and acetonitrile. The trans-ferulic acid was eluted within 60 min without interference from any co-existing components. The results revealed that trans-ferulic acid was present at a level of 2.00 mg per daily dose in the Shimotsu-To.
