抄録

A questionnaire survey was performed on the attitudes of local residents towards wetland ecosystems in relation to the recent land development in the villages near Palangkaraya, Indonesia. Local residents used well water for drinking, bathing and washing. They used freshwater ecosystems for transportation and fishing ground. Nevertheless, motorcycles were commoner transportation measures than boats. Rapid economic growth of the area brought about a population increase and also the risk of deterioration of ecosystem services despite the fact that local residents fully recognized the benefits.
