抄録

Rhododendron yedoense var.poukhanense-dominated communities in the summit area of Cheju Island,Korea,are co-dominated by Rh.mucronulatum var.ciliatum,accompanying Sasa quelpaertensis,Deshampsia caespitosum,Geranium sibiricum,and many other plants.The communities were first established in the grazed grassland before 1970's when the livestock-raising was popular in the island.The physiognomy and structure of the commumity are nearly the same as those found in the graze grassland of the Chugoku Mountains of Japan,although the species composition is different between them. The communities dominated by the same species found on the mountain ridge of Tsushima Island,Japan,are natural ones,co-dominated as well by the two above-listed species of Rhododendron.The habitat is rocky outcrop and rocky debris only in the summit area of Mts.Kanedanoki,Shiratake,and Tatera.
