抄録

When microspheres with 1mm in diameter are close-packed, 3-dimentional porous structure with approximately 500μm in size is constructed. This structure is ideal for ingrowth of blood vessels and new bone tissue into the pores. In the present study, solid and hollow carbonate apatite (CO_3Ap) microsphere with 1mm in diameter was fabricated. Calcium hydroxide microsphere as a precursor was prepared by tumbling granulation method. Then it was transformed to CO_3Ap microsphere through carbonation and phosphataization reaction. Calcite core was useful for the solid CO_3Ap microsphere preparation, whereas NaCl core was useful for hollow CO_3Ap microsphere preparation.
