[2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEMA)/2,2,2-trifluoroethyl acrylate]-poly(TFEMA)/benzoyl peroxide-N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine adhesive resin was prepared to clarify the effect of the initiator on the long-term durability against water of the resin bond to pure gold. The tensile bond strength to pure gold treated with 9,10-epithiodecyl methacrylate was measured before thermal cycling and after 0, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 thermal cyclings. Although bond strengths of the resin were decreased by the initial 1000 thermal cyclings due to the water sorption, then the more stable adhesion to pure gold was demonstrated up to 4000 thermal cyclings, when compared with the TBBO type fluorinated resin.
