Following plants have been considered to be original plants of various kinds of "Du-huo" which are sold on contemporary Chinese: Angelica decursiva (MIQ.) FRANCH. et SAV., A. inaequalis MAX., A. grosseserrata MAX., A. koreana MAX., A. formosana Boiss., A. gigas NAKAI, A. porphyrocaulis NAKAI, A. pubescens MAX., A. laxiflora DIELS, A. megaphylla DIELS, A. dahurica BENTH. et HOOK., A. anomala LALL., Aralia cordata THUNB., Aralia continentalis KITAGAWA, Heracleum lanatum MICHX., H. hemsleyanum MICHX. By investigation of ancient literatures and obserbations of "Du-huo" of the market, the authors have confirmed that Aralia cordata THUNB. and its allied species called "Jiuyan-duhuo" are the original plants of "Du-huo". The authors also confirmed that original plants of "Du-huo" which had been used as "Tu-dang-gui" from "Song" era are suitable to allied species of Angelica pubescens MAX. and Heracleum lanatum MICHX. or allied species. The former corresponds "Chuan-duhuo" and the latter corresponds "Niuwei-duhuo".
