抄録

The degradation of medicines and industrial solvents caused by drug-resistant strain of bacteria has become one of the serious problems in modern society. Although pulsed electric field sterilization is an attractive treatment having some advantages such as simple operability and low deteriorating, the improvement of sterilization efficiency is essential for further popularization of this method. In the present work, the sterilization of Escherichia coli by pulsed electric field with dielectrophoretic condensation was performed in microgap, and the synergy effect on sterilization characteristics was investigated. The sterilization ratio with the present treatment was almost the same as that with only the application of pulsed voltage for two hours. On the other hand, the energy consumption could be reduced to one fifth of the conventional one. Appropriate adjustment of condensation time and pulse iteration will provide further improvement of sterilization efficiency.
