Abstract
Aiming at development of an adhesive resin with the releasing property of Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2), poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)[polyHEMA] hydrogel particle was prepared as a carrier of protein. Here we evaluated long term release of FGF-2 from the polyHEMA hydrogel particle impregnated with FGF-2 solution and its effects on MC3T3-E1 cells. The release of FGF-2 from the polyHEMA particle continued for 6 weeks and it was confirmed that the osteoblastic cell proliferation was promoted by the released FGF-2.
