To protect IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network from overloaded traffic, telecom companies usually take a measure of originator regulation on voice call. It is achieved by discarding the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling messages which are employed by IMS to initialize a voice call session. This paper studies the performance of throughput of voice call in an extreme overload condition based on network simulator(ns-2). In the case of single FIFO queue, an immediately decreases of throughput is observed when offered load exceeds server capacity. To improve the throughput, a dynamic queuing structure is proposed. The simulation result shows dynamic queuing structure successfully prevents the throughput from dramatically decrease when an extreme overload is applied.
