The objective of this study was to investigate the electrochemical behavior of Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr alloy (TNTZ) in solutions with or without fluoride, and compared with commercially pure titanium (TI). The TNTZ in a solution with fluoride showed lower open circuit potential, polarization resistance, and higher current density at passive region in dynamic polarization curve than those in a solution without fluoride. Although the electrochemical corrosion parameters for the TNTZ reduced in a fluoride-containing solution, the TNTZ had better resistance to corrosion of fluoride than the TI. Therefore, the TNTZ could have a superior corrosion resistance to commercially pure titanium.
