抄録

There are no reports about metabolism of N,N'-dimethyl-p-toluidine (DMPT) by body fluids as saliva or serum. We examined the metabolism of DMPT by saliva, serum or S9, because there is some concern about the carcinogenicity of DMPT. DMPT was unaffected in serum, whereas DMPT was slightly metabolized in saliva. In S9, DMPT was decreased time-dependently. With decrease of DMPT, production of N-methyl-p-toluidine increased. Although there is a small possibility that DMPT is metabolized in simulated oral circumstances, These results suggest that DMPT eluted from dental polymers may be taken in the body and then may be metabolized in the liver.
