抄録

This report presents the surgical orthodontic treatment of a mandibular prognathism patient with open bite and narrow maxillary dental arch. The patient was a 16-year-old boy and the chief complaint was difficulties in mastication and esthetic problems due to a long face. The patient was treated by two jaw surgery following the pre-surgical orthodontics involved in maxillary rapid expansion. Backward and upward re-positioning of the mandible with no counter-clockwise rotation was accomplished by the two jaw surgery with clockwise rotation of the maxilla. The maxillary rapid expansion coordinated the maxillary and the mandibular dental arches. The surgical orthodontic treatment established a functional and stable occlusion along with a pleasing facial profile.
