抄録

The subject of this paper, it's a relationship between idealism and religion in modern Japan. Mainly, I would study Kyoson TSUCHIDA and Sakuzo YOSHINO. TSUCHIDA was the advocate of "Culturalism", and he was a Buddhist researcher, he approached idealism from the viewpoint of Buddhism. YOSHINO was the most famous advocate of "Taisho democracy". From the viewpoint of Christianity, he approached idealism. And their idealism was the growth of the individual personality. They tried to present a new standard of value, and a new outlook on life in the Taisho Era. It was meant to overcome nationalism and old values of the Meiji Era.
