  • AN EFFECT OF THE LOW AMPLITUDE OSCILLATION APPLIED TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN A TRACKING OPERATION

抄録

In order to find a suitable stimulus that improves tracking operation accuracy, a low amplitude oscillation was applied to the steering wheel in a simulated driving environment. The oscillation stimulus were three frequency of sine wave (10, 20, 40 Hz), and each wave has three level amplitude (0.05, 0.1, 0.2 Nm), and no stimulus condition was set as a control. The tracking target velocities were set as 20 (slow) and 30deg. /sec (fast). On the slow velocity, the accuracy of tracking operation was significantly improved under the 20Hz condition compared to the control (p<0.05). On the fast velocity, there was no stimulus condition that improved the accuracy of tracking operation. These results suggest that the oscillation stimulus of 20Hz could improve the accuracy of tracking operation on the slow tracking velocity.
