Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the coupling effect by tensile strength and wear loss values of the experimental light-cure spherical filler containing composite. The filler was modified with either 3-MPS (control) or a hydrophobic silane coupling agent having double bond (p-MBS). The tensile strength of p-MBS composite was significantly higher compared with control (p<0.05), and the wear loss values of p-MBS composite was significantly lower compared with control after water immersion for 180 days (p<0.05). It was suggested that the p-MBS modified interface of filler improved compatibility with base resins and promoted the anti-hydrolysis of the silanized layer.
