抄録

The purpose of this paper is to explain the bending solutions of cylindrical shells by means of the theoretical three-dimensional elastic analysis. As a result, it is clarified that there must be more characteristic values than those by shell theory. The characteristic values are classified into 3 groups (Type A, Type B and Type C) in case of closed cylindrical shells, and into 2 groups (Type A and Type C) in case of open section cylindrical shells. The smallest value of Type A and the value of Type B are calculated by the thin shell theory, and the smallest value of Type C is calculated by the shell theory in consideration of anti plane shear deformation. The application of these solutions is also mentioned.
